Having spent five years trying desparately to earn a living as a musician, I went to school to learn how to cut hair in 1978. The school I went to in LA was very good, but having entered the business professionally I quickly discovered how much I did not know about my new job.

After working for a few years here and there I attended an advanced training academy for licensed professionals in Orange County called the ABBA Academy. Here I learned method, shape and efficient execution of design. This method made so much sense to me that I committed myself to learn it as best as I could.

After a couple of years of weekends training there, the owner, Alan Benfield Bush asked me to come on board as assistant instructor. Between working in the salon during the week and the ABBA academy on the weekends I was very busy!

I opened the first of two salons in 1987 and was a salon owner or part owner for the next eight years. During this time I was invited to join the ABBA Artistic Team and was one of only seven ABBA Master Affiliates in the United States. I spent six years on the road criss-crossing the US teaching classes, seminars and appearing in trade and regional shows.

The demands of salon ownership and traveling were taking a toll, so I sold my share to my partners, retired from ABBA and concentrated on the parts of my work I love the most - taking care of my clients. My specializations are hair design and cutting for men and women with an emphasis on a style that suits the client both structurally and personally. Everybody wants to look good and have their hair easy to care for.

I moved to Half Moon Bay in 1999 to pursue my calling as a Pastor and started a new church here in 2001, Calvary Chapel of Half Moon Bay. I continue to "wear two hats" by shepherding the flock and shearing them as well. Main Street Hair Design is my home and where I spend most of my time apart from the ministry. Our crew here is one of the finest I have ever worked with, as we combine a casual atmosphere and highly professional services.
